Company Girl Coffee ~ 4-9-10

Welcome!  Thanks for stopping by, Company Girls!  I’ve got virtual vanilla cappuccinos going today – grab a mug!  If you’ve been following along this week, there have been some great tasks assigned to lead to building sanctuary in our homes.  I was able to stay on task for the entire month Coffeeof March (‘whew!) and have to say that it made a huge difference in my home and my attitude towards it.  There are times my house just feels impossible.  I have a husband who is a wonderful provider, but he has never turned a light switch off in his life, he’s notorious for having several cups ‘going’ because he can’t remember which is his, and he thinks the dining room table is an extension of his desk.  It is easy to feel like a martyr, but when I change my heart and attitude toward creating sanctuary, these ‘flaws’ bother me less and less.  (Well, except the light switch thing – really – how hard is it to turn it off?!  LOL)

I have been buried in work projects and am trying to get much done before a Hawaiian vacation we have scheduled very soon…so it’s time to finish my cappuccino and get back to work.  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Cheryl! Sounds like you are keeping busy in more ways than one.

I agree that it's easy to feel like a martyr unless we watch our attitude. With me, it's my kids more than my husband. I have a hard time distinguishing the line between a super clean house and one that is neat, but looks lived in.

Thanks for your well wishes...luckily my DH is home today and I will get a nap in. I just hope no one else gets sick.

Have a great weekend and good luck with all those projects! :)

Hi Cheryl!
What a great reminder about how attitude affects our home-sanctuaries. Your husband's coffee cups reminds me of my 4 kid's empty and half-empty water bottles!!! Everywhere all the time!and belong to no one!! Well, I've resigned myself to saying nothing anymore and quietly putting them in the recycle bin :)Not worth getting upset about, or I'd be upset all the time :)
Your upcoming vacation sounds wonderful. Nice visiting with you!

I'm with you! Changing my heart towards housework and picking up after my hubby and focusing on having a "sanctuary" has really improved my attitude. But still, can you PLEASE hang your towel on the rack? :)

I know what you mean...sometimes our families work against us in the sanctuary department, but our attitude makes all the difference!

We went to HI this summer and it was awesome...I'm jealous!!

Good job keeping up with the Home Sanctuary challenges all month. I wasn't nearly that consistent. I'm working on conquering little bits of the house here and there. It does so much for my outlook to see even small progress.

Okay that cracked me up about the lightbulbs. I have to say my parents drilled that into us well...it still drives my Dad nuts when the kids leave lights on, lol.

Having had Bunny now...I gotta say, those vanilla cappuccinos sound really tempting!

Hi Cheryl,

I saw your name and survey over at Rachel Anne's email newsletter. Wanted to see if you have heard of gIRL? It is a new ministry designed to do just what you are wanting to do.

Go to www.girlfriendsirl.com and check it out. Would love for you and so many others to join us in North Carolina in September.
