Pong. How cool were we when we had Pong? I, for one, was pretty impressed.
Then there was PacMan. That was even more cool.
My brain is muddled. Moreso than normal. I have always been proud to be the Last American Family Without Video Games. Now I am re-thinking that and shopping for a video system. I've seen the Wii demonstrated on Good Morning America. Now THAT is a system I think I could allow. But...then when you start shopping and all these other words come into your vocabulary: XBOX, XBOX 360, PS, PS2, PS3, Game Cube, Game Boy (is there a Game Girl for those of us with daughters?), etc. How do you then know what to buy? It will be used sparingly - weekends, mostly, and more of a bribe draw for my teens to have their friends hang out HERE instead of somewhere else. While we have a pool and food, the big draw of video games seems to be lacking and I am ready to take the plunge.
Any advice? I'm not looking to dip into the kids' college funds to do this, but I do have a little money set aside.

When you get one...I guess we'll be the last family without one! Thing 2 would love to have a Wii, so that's definitely what I'd go for. It has lots of "active" games like table tennis. We have friends who have one, and my kids love it.
Get the Wii, definitely. I just bought it for my husband recently and I love the fact he can play games but still get a little activity.
Just this weekend my nephew demonstrated the Wii Fit program for me and I am now on a waiting list for it. I've never been a gamer despite the fact we've had some sort of gaming machine ever since Pong. But this looks like something I might actually use.
I just bought a wii and we love it! Not only do you get exercise while playing, it provides great family time. Definitely go for the wii!
