Overheard at a track meet yesterday:
Lady 1: "Did you hear about the new law they're making?"
Lady 2: "No, what now?"
Lady 1: "They're making it a law so you can't drive with a dog in your lap no more."
(Not, there is much I could say at this point, but I will refrain.)
Lady 2: "You're kidding! That's stupid. Next thing you know, they'll have car seats for dogs."
Lady 1: "They already do! But it doesn't hurt anything to have my dog in my lap when I'm driving. It's just stupid."
I had to turn away so my silent giggling would not get the best of me. Have you ever seen people driving with dogs in their laps? YES! It's quite possibly more distracting than driving while on the phone. But, you are surely relieved that "They're making a law so you can't do this no more." :o) I believe these women really have their thumb on the pulse of California politics and am certain we can all take their word for it.
Blessings,
Cheryl
I'm crazy about a lot of things: my family, my job, my hobbies, my life, but most importantly, my God. I'm not quite certifiably crazy, but it's only a matter of time.

Help me remember...
As I listened to this song on K-LOVE this evening, after a very long and quite stressful couple of weeks, this song by Phillips Craig & Dean was such a blessing:
You are God Alone
You are not a god
Created by human hands
You are not a god
Dependant on any mortal man
You are not a god
In need of anything we can give
By Your plan, that's just the way it is
Chorus:
You are God alone
From before time began
You were on Your throne
Your are God alone
And right now
In the good times and bad
You are on Your throne
You are God alone
You're the only God
Whose power none can contend
You're the only God
Whose name and praise will never end
You're the only God
Who's worthy of everything we can give
You are God
And that's just the way it is
AMEN. I need to remember this when life gets trying and when it looks like satan is winning the "game." God created this earth and remains on His throne today. Satan will not win. May God give us strength daily to battle him.
Blessings,
Cheryl

DD #3's drumline performance
That's her on the far left, front row.
And yes, it makes me crazy that "Percussion" is spelled wrong. It's not my work. I'm just glad that it's available.
A whole generation gone.
A week ago today, we received news that Hubby's last remaining grandparent had passed away in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. We were told earlier in the week that he could go at any time, so this was not a surprise. "Grandpa Ralph" was 94 years old, a Christian, and longed to go to his heavenly Home where he would join not one, but two Christian wives who had preceded him in death. There were approximately 100+ family members in attendance at the funeral, as well as many from the community - schoolmates of Hubby's mom, aunt and uncles, etc. What a lovely tribute to a man who had an incredibly strong work ethic his whole life. We learned that Grandpa Ralph worked at Northeastern State University and was responsible for putting leaf imprints in the concrete sidewalks all over the campus. While he is leaving behind an amazing Christian heritage, what a neat thing to think that the labor of his hands will be appreciated for years to come.It is a strange thing to lose your last grandparent. I lost mine a few years ago. It suddenly makes you feel old. Too old. We have all been bumped up a generational notch. I don't like it. There is something comforting about still having a grandparent living. It's a safety net. It puts us each a step closer to our own demise. While many days I would welcome this, I also selfishly want to continue raising my children, meet grandchildren (in a LONG time!), and spend more years serving the Lord. A dear friend's mother died suddenly yesterday. A coach died suddenly during a game Hubby was refereeing last night. Our days are numbered.
"And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight - if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you have heard." (Colossians 1:21-23a).
Blessings,
Cheryl
