Firsts...

We collectively held our breaths, as we waited for the first breath. We? The woman I was with today for the birth of her daughter. It didn't take long, but as we listened to the doctors suction her mouth and nose, we waited, and were elated with the first squeaks that only a newborn can make. This may sound strange, but at 42 years old, I have never been to a birth, aside from the births of my own children. Today's birth changed that for me, as I was doula to my first birth. Being a Cesarean section, there was little for me to do except reassure the mama and wipe her tears. Ten fingers, ten toes, and an absolutely beautiful round head, little "E" was born and I will probably never forget it.

Hmmmm....Just re-read your post of 06/26, and find that this "baby longing" has been going on for awhile. Careful, my friend. Don't drink the Kool-Aid! lolololol

When did this doula thing start? This is one of the drawbacks to learning about your life only through your blog. Send me an e-mail, OK?
