Company Girl Coffee, April 3, 2009

Picture 2

Welcome, ladies!  I hope you have had a productive week.  I have been busy, and I'll admit the Home Sanctuary tasks have been hard for me this week and I have had to get very creative.  Sad to say, but today to gather trash or donations, I cleaned the fridge.  When did I buy this fresh broccoli?  I'm thinking it was for the twins' birthday party last month and it never got made into a veggie tray.  Why is this new'ish bag of potatoes mushy?  Is this sprouting sweet potato the same one I bought around the holidays?  If not, where did it come from?

*Warning: political opinions ahead*

In other news, if ya'll take a close look at your recent paychecks, you'll probably see what we saw this week:  a little note stating that due to the economic bailout plan, federal taxes have gone up effective immediately.  Higher taxes, California's 10% paycut, and an IRS bill.  I guess this is the economic stimulus that we've all been hearing about.  The only stimulating we will be doing in the economy is buying more Top Ramen and less fresh broccoli.

In spite of my rantings, we ARE blessed,

Cheryl

that was a very polite rant. You'd never make it on talk radio.

I think we could arrange something between our kids....

This week got a little nuts, not sure how. It's hard to fit in the small things for me too...AND I have the added guilt when I don't get one of my own tasks done. But there is always tomorrow, another chance, right??

Have a great weekend!

That was a polite rant :) I've been much more upset about the bailout stuff.

I'm behind on small stuff, too. But hey...you cleaned out the fridge. That deserves a pat on the back :)

haha, way to go! I found some potatoes that had sprouted (I mean, really sprouted) in the pantry. What did I do? Put 'em in vases, of course! See how beautiful they look?

Have a great weekend!

That sounds like my fridge. I hate to see fresh produce go to waste. Maybe that is why I stick to the frozen stuff.

Have a good weekend.

Sounds like you made a good choice clearing up your fridge! Sorry about the rising taxes you're facing. Hope you have a great weekend.

Best wishes,
Jo

Oh! and broccoli can smell terrible.
I am already tired of giving the government more money. OK, I should stop here...
Have a great week!

Well, I have to agree with the others. You do rant quite nicely! And the fridge.....I need to do that tomorrow and it scares me! :) Have a great weekend!

I just had a similar encounter with my frig. I think I could win a prize for some of the things I've grown in there!

Your political opinion is shared! In fact my family is going to attend the Tax Day Tea Party in our area to protest all this government spending. This is so not me but I just feel like we need to let our voices be heard in some way. I'm also sending "loose" tea to Washington to let them know I don't approve of all this taxation. Am I radical or what?
Have a great weekend!

Totally with you on the broccoli and potato mush. We tried doing the biweekly grocery shopping, but it didn't work. I need things more fresh, and to remember when they were purchased. =p

Top Ramen is 3 for 99 cents at the 99 cents only store. haha =p

Have a great weekend, and thanks for visiting.

You really need to give lessons on politely ranting. My rants usually--no ALWAYS--get me in trouble.

I hear ya on the fridge thing. But I ABHORE cleaning it out. Maybe dear sweet hubby will do it for me tomorrow.

Have a blessed weekend. Thanks for the coffee.

First of all, LOVE the new background! So cheery! :)

I hope you had a fantastic Easter. Ours was great. Friends, family, eggs...more eggs! The Easter service was wonderful.

I'm sort of in recovery mode right now because I did zero laundry over the weekend. Now I need to step up the pace and prepare for my Brother in law, who arrives on his two weeks leave from Afghanistan today, and my Mom, sister, and neice who are coming for the weekend.

Could I ask a favor???? Could you please send me some sunshine??? We have 4 inches of snow this morning! I thought it very ironic, considering Rachel Anne's verse of the month! God has such a sense of humor!

Well, I'm off and running! Thanks for stopping by yesterday. :)
